I'd stay away from fords. It seems they are hit or miss, and when they miss its all problems. Corey's dad replaced his tranny twice on his marineer

you'll thank me later lol

Even the Hybrid Cayenne has crap gas mileage.

Go for a crew cab ecoboost Ford!

Escapes are bitch vehicles you don't want one of those. The new ones are nice I test drove one last year for the wife but we decided to go for the van.   What about an Edge?

I hit with mine and you missed with yours, should I try my luck again? haha.    I think they are mostly OK unlss you get a defective one.

The styling of the Edge bugs me for some reason.  Same with the Equinox.

Right now I made a list on cars.com of SUVs and wagons in my price range.  Looked it over (turns out there are ALOT of those) and found about 6 Escapes, one silver Rav4 (have one of these already, will see how i like it over the next few weeks) and two Jetta wagons.  I ruled out a bunch of other stuff based on either looks or known issues (like every Hyundai - wife worked in a Hyundai dealership for a few weeks and they are shit for the most part, even now).

I have seen a few Jetta wagons out there, and they aren't very expensive.

I talked to two jetta owners, one who has owned Jettas since 2000, and he said they have done him pretty well.  he did say that he has always had manuals though.

Another friends' wife has an 07 Jetta Wolfsburg and she said it was good.  Her estimate of normal maintenance costs wasn't bad either.

Also looking at a few Escapes but I need to drive one.  We have family members that have them so I can probably do it that way.

Yes, the Jetta Wagon is good; the Passat wagon is BAD (too much in common with Audi, so insanely high maintenance costs).

I might have bought a Jetta Wagon, if I could of found one that met my criteria (condition, mileage, price, options, etc.).

The Ford Edge is a fuel slut.

Maybe I will just say the hell with it and get one of these:

LOL.  there is one in the parking lot at work and it looks like a gokart.  I'm pretty sure I could fit that thing in the back of my truck.

Ok so I am 95% sure I'm going to be getting a car or small SUV within the next few weeks.

Anyone have recommendations on where to get a hitch installed?  I looked at instructions on eTrailer and depending on what I end up with, there is a chance the work to do this will be a touch outside my comfort zone.  I was going to just default to UHaul since they basically invented this whole idea in the US. But if there was someone better and/or cheaper around here I'd take it to them instead.

Dude, installing a hitch is easy.  My dad put one on, and he is non-mechanical.

Depends on the car. The Mazda 3 is tricky.
